Spirit Journeys Releases Itinerary for an "Over the Top" Journey to Egypt
New Milford (PRWEB) June 28, 2009 -- Spirit Journeys has just release the detailed itinerary for can only be called an "over the top" adventure to Egypt. Scheduled to start May 2 and run to May 15, 2010, this is a deluxe five star journey to explore the mysteries of Egypt.
This gay travel (http://www.spiritjourneys.com) adventure is scheduled in early May to take advantage of the reduced number of tourists and still comfortable temperatures. The reduced number of tourists will add greatly to the overall experience of Egypt and her people.
Spirit Journeys gay vacations (http://www.spiritjourneys.com) are always unique, but this Egyptian adventure "can truly be called a trip of a lifetime." Special arrangements have been made to allow participants private access into many of Egypt's wonders. A private visit into the King's Chamber inside the Great Pyramid, a private visit to stand between the paws of the Sphinx and a private visit to the Isle of Philae and the Temple of Isis at sunrise are just a few things that Spirit Journeys has arranged. These opportunities have been off limits to the general public for many years.
This journey starts at the historic Mena House Oberoi Hotel. This palatial hotel, in the shadow of the Pyramids, has enchanted guests since 1869. Located on forty acres of jasmine scented gardens, the Mena House Oberoi has played host to kings and emperors, Heads of State and celebrities.
The first full day in Egypt starts with an exclusive sunrise visit to the Sphinx, a time when participants will be the only people there. In the afternoon, the group will visit Saqqara to view the dozens of Old Kingdom pyramids on the west bank near ancient Memphis. The day ends with a sunset camel ride in the desert with incredible views of the pyramids in the distance.
A few days into the journey, participants move to a six night sail on the Nile aboard a private dahabiya. A dahabiya is river-going sailboat, much like what would called a sailing yacht these days. They were common in Egypt in the days of the monarchy (1920s-40s) when aristocrats and sophisticated travelers loved to cruise the Nile in style. With no motor (and the associated noise and fumes), this is a wonderful way to enjoy Egypt at a leisurely pace, to drink in the landscapes, and peruse the monuments and villages on the riverbanks.
Because a dahabiya is so much smaller than the usual large river boats that cruise the Nile, you sail much closer to the banks of the Nile, bringing Egypt right to your finger tips as you lazily drift by. A dahabiya can also stop at many places too small for river boats to dock.
Participation is limited to a maximum of 16 participants, making for a small, intimate group to travel with. The journeys ends back in Cairo at the Mena House. They then get time to explore the Cairo Museum and the world famous Kahn El Khalili Bazaar. The last day of the journey, is the private visit to the King's Chamber inside the Great Pyramid. This is a spectacular way to end a pilgrimage through Egypt.
